Front Door Lock Replacement
Entrance Door Lock Replacement – In Many Cases, the Entire Lock Does Not Need to Be Replaced
Entrance door lock replacement is one of our most common services. Most people call us when moving into a new property, losing their keys, or when the old lock starts sticking, becoming difficult to turn, or making clicking noises. In these situations, the issue is not only convenience — the level of security is also significantly reduced.
The good news is that in most cases the entire lock does not need to be replaced. For plastic doors and many simpler security doors, replacing only the lock cylinder is usually sufficient — this is a quick and relatively cost-effective solution. However, if the door has a multi-point locking system or the entire lock body is already heavily worn, replacing the complete mechanism is often the better choice. We can determine which solution is necessary during the on-site inspection.
FAQ – Entrance Door Lock Replacement
When is it necessary to replace the lock on an entrance door?
If the key has been lost or unauthorized copies may exist, you moved into a new property, the lock is difficult to operate, clicks or does not close properly, you want a more modern and secure lock, or the lock has not been replaced for 8–10 years — especially in the case of multi-point locking systems — then entrance door lock replacement is recommended.
Is replacing the lock cylinder enough, or does the entire lock need replacement?
For plastic doors and many simpler security doors, replacing the lock cylinder is usually sufficient. Full lock replacement becomes necessary during entrance door lock replacement if the door has a multi-point locking system or the lock body is so worn that cylinder replacement would only provide a temporary solution. After an on-site inspection, we can clearly determine the appropriate option.
How long does entrance door lock replacement take?
Entrance door lock replacement usually takes between 15–90 minutes, depending on whether it involves a simple cylinder replacement or complete lock replacement. We can provide a more accurate estimate after the inspection.
What types of locks do you work with?
We work exclusively with MABISZ-certified locks and cylinders protected against drilling and picking, such as Mul-T-Lock, CISA, and HiSec products. We only install products for which we can provide warranty coverage.
Does the type of door matter?
Yes. Plastic, wooden, and aluminum doors all require different approaches, and it also matters whether the door has a single-point, double-point, or multi-point locking system. If you tell us the type of door in advance, we arrive prepared to complete the entrance door lock replacement efficiently.
How Do We Work?
1. On-Site Inspection and Measurement
After arrival, we identify the type of door — plastic, wood, aluminum, or security door. We measure the lock cylinder dimensions and check whether the door uses a single-point, double-point, or multi-point locking system.
2. Problem Diagnosis
We determine whether replacing only the lock cylinder is sufficient or whether replacing the entire lock body is also necessary.
3. Selecting the Correct Lock Cylinder / Lock
We recommend a MABISZ-certified lock cylinder or complete lock protected against drilling and picking that fits the door perfectly.
4. Removing the Old Lock Cylinder / Lock
By loosening the fixing screw, we remove the old cylinder, or in the case of complete lock replacement, we also remove the handles and covers. This step usually takes 5–10 minutes.
5. Installing the New Lock
Precise adjustment, lubrication, and fitting are carried out. It is important that the cylinder does not protrude from the door for proper burglary protection.
6. Function Testing
We test the lock multiple times from both inside and outside and inspect all locking points thoroughly.
7. Handover
We hand over the new keys, adjust the lock, and explain everything necessary regarding maintenance.
The entire process is dust-free, low-noise, and does not damage the door.
