Security Lock Replacement
Security Lock Replacement in Budapest – First We Inspect, Then We Decide
Security lock replacement becomes necessary when the existing lock no longer provides adequate protection or simply no longer operates reliably. Wear and tear, malfunction, lost keys, or moving into a new property — all of these are valid reasons for replacing a lock. Replacing the lock in time can prevent many frustrating situations and is usually much cheaper than waiting until the lock completely fails.
FAQ – Security Lock Replacement
When is security lock replacement justified?
If the key becomes difficult to turn, the lock starts sticking, or it no longer closes reliably, do not wait for a complete failure. Preventive replacement is a simpler, cheaper, and significantly safer solution.
Is replacing the lock cylinder enough, or does the entire lock need replacement?
The entire mechanism does not always need replacement. If the problem only affects the lock cylinder, replacing the cylinder is sufficient — this is faster and requires less intervention. Full security lock replacement becomes necessary when the internal mechanism is damaged or the structure can no longer be repaired. We determine the correct solution through an on-site inspection.
What determines which lock is needed?
Every door and lock system is different, so there is no universal answer. The type of door, the dimensions of the lock mechanism, and whether the work involves cylinder replacement or full security lock replacement all matter. MABISZ certification is also important: some insurance companies only provide burglary coverage if the property is equipped with properly certified locks. In most cases, we can only provide an exact solution and price after identifying the lock on-site.
Which brands do you work with?
We work exclusively with MABISZ-certified cylinders and locks protected against drilling and picking, such as Mul-T-Lock, HiSec, CISA, and Mottura. We only install locks for which we can provide warranty coverage.
How long does the replacement take?
Simple lock cylinder replacement usually takes 30–60 minutes. Complete lock replacement generally takes 1–2 hours depending on the type of door and locking mechanism. We provide a more accurate estimate after the on-site inspection.
What is the final price?
The price quoted on-site is the final price. No extras, no hidden costs, and no unpleasant surprises at the end of the work.
How Does Security Lock Replacement Work?
1. On-Site Inspection
After arrival, we identify the type of door — HiSec, multi-point locking, plastic, wooden — along with the type and condition of the lock. We measure the lock cylinder length and diameter.
2. Accurate Diagnosis of the Problem
We determine whether replacing only the lock cylinder is sufficient or whether complete lock replacement is necessary.
3. Selecting the Appropriate Lock / Lock Cylinder
We recommend MABISZ-certified locks or cylinders protected against drilling and picking, such as Mul-T-Lock, CISA, or HiSec products.
4. Removing the Old Lock
We begin by removing the handles and covers, then remove the fixing screws and take out the old lock or lock cylinder.
5. Installing the New Lock
Precise adjustment, lubrication, and fitting are carried out. It is important that the lock cylinder does not protrude from the door for proper burglary protection.
6. Function Testing
We test the lock multiple times from both inside and outside and inspect all locking points thoroughly.
7. Handover
We hand over the new keys, adjust the lock, and explain everything necessary regarding maintenance.
The entire security lock replacement process is dust-free, low-noise, and does not damage the door.
